How to Get Started

Step 1: Join GeekDZ (if you haven't already)

Go to How to Join GeekDZ and complete registration.

This gives you access to Discord, the cloud lab, and community resources.

Step 2: Express Interest in Red Hat Track

In Discord:

  1. Go to #red-hat-academy channel
  2. Post: "Hi! I'm interested in the RHCSA track. Can I get more info?"
  3. Our mentors will respond within 24 hours
  4. You'll get a welcome pack and schedule

Step 3: Attend the First Workshop

When: First Friday of each month at 2:00 PM Format: Online (Discord) + optional in-person (campus) What to bring: Laptop with internet access

We'll cover:

  • Linux basics and command line
  • Setting up your lab environment
  • Course overview and expectations

Step 4: Set Up Your Lab

After the first workshop, you'll get:

  1. RHEL 9 VM in the cloud
  2. SSH access credentials
  3. Lab assignment for Week 1
  4. Access to recorded videos (if you miss live sessions)

A: No! We start from "What is a terminal?" Many of our best students had zero Linux experience.

A: Yes! Many members do Red Hat + Open Source track together (8-10 hours/week total).

Q: What if I fail the RHCSA exam?

A: You can retake it. Most people pass on their 2nd attempt after more practice. GeekDZ offers free retake mentoring.

Q: Will the certification help me get a job?

A: 100%. If you have RHCSA + a portfolio of projects, you're hireable. We have partners actively recruiting certified GeekDZ members.

Q: Is the exam hard?

A: It's challenging but fair. Unlike multiple-choice exams, there are no trick questions. If you can do the labs, you can pass the exam.

Q: Can I take the exam from Algeria?

A: Yes! Red Hat offers online proctored exams. You take it from home/office with a webcam. Check redhat.com/exam for testing centers near you.

Q: What if I can't access the labs due to internet?

A: Let us know. We can provide offline VM downloads or alternative arrangements.
